Association for Women Journalists. Non-profit group intended to support woman in print and broadcast journalism and promote the respectful treatment of women by the news media. They have seven chapters across the USA, the first one having been set up in Forth Worth, Dallas in 1988. The were formed to co-ordinate protest about a newspaper avertising campaign featuring a scantily-clad woman.

There activities today include off-the-record breakfast meetings with important people in law, politics and education, panel discussion meetings and computer courses.

Membership is open to men and women and costs $30.
