A colloquial term for a "utility corridor." This is an area of land delineated by a utility, usually on the border between properties, which is traversed by some sort of utility conduit (telephone pole, underground pipeline, etc.) The land is technically owned by the adjacent landowners, usally split 50-50 unless the corridor is solely on one property. However, in the title deed for the house, the utility company is granted unlimited access to that area, including traversing the property's ground to access it.
