In many of the
Lord British Ultima computer games, Tinker was a character class. The Tinker class embodied the
virtue of
Sacrifice your avatar had to attain in
Ultima IV. In Ultima IV's land of
Sosaria, the Tinker city was called
Minoc and you could pick up a Tinker character named Julia there.
The Tinker class was basically a
warrior class that could not wear magical chain or magical
plate armor but could use all weapons. The Tinker class had some light magic using ability, although not as much as the
Ranger or
Paladin classes.
