A form of syllogism in scholastic logic. The name is from a medieval mnemonic poem, where its vowels reflect the syllogism's standard form of EAE-1.

No M are P. E - universal negative
All S are M. A - universal affirmative
Therefore, no S are P.  E - universal negative

Unlike some of the other mnemonic terms, celarent is a real Latin word ("they might hide").
