I suppose we should all just use the Latin term to clear up exactly what a bramble versus a prickly ash is. To me, it describes those noble flowerless creatures that inhabit my land by the score, covered in rose bush sized thorns. They can grow from their seed, but most also, like the scrappy bastards they are, they send up little shoots from their huge root structure. Their roots spread rapidly along the surface, but do not go deep. They are a distant member of the citrus family, but do not yield anything worth eating. Their pleasantly tangy smelling berries can cause a rash in some folks. I should know, I have tried them as aftershave. It looked like I had ritually burned my face. This gave me a funny idea, which I may tell you about later.
