Sanskrit for "Diamond Vehicle". Used to describe Tibetan Buddhism. Some people consider it one of three current main branches of Buddhism (Theravada, Mahayana, Vajrayana). Others talk about two branches (Theravada and Mahayana) and consider Vajrayana part of the Mahayana tradition.
