Swedish metal band. Has gone through several musical styles with the time, from death metal in ~87-~94 to opera metal they have done for many years as of today, 24.05.2000.

Extremely outdated incomplete discography

Their lyrics are heavily loaded with references to ancient cultures and religions.

Greek for a "wild beast", I am told.

The name "Therion" seems to have occult references as well. Along with the extremely cool metal band, Aleister Crowley used it in his title. Often referring to himself in third person he would write about "The Master Therion".

However, I doubt the band borrowed the name from him. Its beginnings are older than Crowley, methinks.
