According to Nominet, the registry for the cc TLD .uk, and we have no reason to doubt them, there are now no longer any three letter domains available in the TLD .COM.

This is hardly surprising, given the popularity of .com websites now, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I found this very difficult to believe. That covers 17576 domain names. Just to see I went to NSI's web site and did a little experiment. After typing in 20 or so obscure three letter combinations and finding that they were all taken, I assume that this statement is true. I wonder who registers these domains. Who the hell would want vxk.com? Or zzw.com? What could some of the possible letter combinations possibly stand for? And almost none of the domains have a web site up. They probably never will. Just a bunch of cybersquatters. Now when I want to start up my website about Zany Zimbabwe Watermelons, I wont be able to use zzw.com.

Kojedub: You'll notice the title of this node is "There are no three letter .coms left" :)
