Irish actor, hailing from the town of Navan in County Meath. Most famous these days for playing James Bond, he first came to prominence as TV's Remington Steele. His contract for this television show foiled his first opportunity to take on the role of 007 from Roger Moore in the 1980s, leaving the door open for the much-derided Timothy Dalton. Untypically, Brosnan got a second chance in the 1990s, and most would agree he has acquitted himself admirably in the role since his first appearance in Goldeneye.

Pierce Brosnan's contract specifically forbids him from wearing a tuxedo in films other than James Bond. Thus for the black tie ball in The Thomas Crown Affair the top button of his shirt is open and his white bow-tie is undone, apparently this means he is technically not wearing a tuxedo.

The current James Bond, Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born in Navan, County Meath, Ireland May 16, 1953. Along with his family he moved to London, his family arrived the day Ian Fleming died, where he would attend drama school and would later be involed in various theater productions.

After several years of stage work, he received his first "American" role in the ABC TV mini-series The Manions of America. This series would lead him to role that would make him a familar name across America, as he played Remington Steele, which started in 1982. The series would run for more 4 seasons and more than 92 episodes. It was here that Brosnan was picked to be the next Bond after Sean Connery, however due to this announcement, intrest returned to Steele and NBC ordered another season of the show, which allowd Timothy Dalton to take his place.

When Remington Steele ended, Pierce cut back on his movies after his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. On December 29, 1991, Cassandra Harris Brosnan, who was a Bond girl in For Your Eyes Only, died leaving two childern from her first marriage and one from her marriage with Pierce.

In the early 90's Brosnan came back full time with apperances in many films, including Mrs. Doubtfire and Love Affair. In 1995 Brosnan took the role we were all waiting for, Bond, James Bond in GoldenEye. Critics have since called him the best Bond since Connery. Now for a whole group of people, Brosnan is the only Bond they know.

Bond currently lives in Malibu, California with Keely Shaye Smith, his wife. and his children.
