Ming porcelain: Chinese porcelain produced in this period, which remains among the finest ever made. A priceless Ming vase is the archetypal smashable antique, appearing - almost always doomed - in countless films, cartoons and bad jokes, and as a weapon in Worms 2.
Ming the Merciless: Former Emperor of the Universe. Making his base on the planet Mongo, Ming ruled with an iron fist until he was overthrown in a revolt led by quarterback Flash Gordon.
to ming (British slang): To be foul or repellent. Applied to ugly people ("he mings," "she's a minger") and to food and drink ("this beer is minging"). Seems to have been Scottish or Northern English originally; gained nationwide currency with the release of Trainspotting, and was further popularised by Ali G.
