Maybe the first ambient music composer, dating back to the 50's; some
of his works are also proto-Merzbow. A member of Fluxus and the founder of
the Theater of Eternal Music, a group that has included Terry Riley, a
young John Cale, Eno collaborator Jon Hassell, and Angus
Maclise, the first Velvet Underground drummer. Has twin masteries of just intonation (with some obtuse prime-number ratios) and time (i.e. his pieces can subvert your perception of it).
