It turns out my laptop keyboard issues were just a harbinger of more to come. Unfortunately I had another small stroke yesterday which left me with slurred speech and a useless left hand. After my old doc took me to hospital for a checkup I'm back home for a couple of weeks of enforced rest, which is the last thing I wanted, what with Iron Noder coming up, and my planning a trip to Seattle to visit Tess for Thanksgiving.

I have my friend Will to thank for pointing out that my useless fingers might be a symptom of something more serious than "my hand went to sleep" and badgered me to get a check-up. That hand has returned to normal now, so any tyops you spot are nothing to worry about, just a feature of my usual piss-poor typing and being a bad proofreader.

Being on enforced house rest does mean a return to my pleas for more reading material, so I repeat my call for good reading suggestions. Good sci-fi or popular science titles are always welcome. Will is providing me some films to consume, but my intellect also needs feeding; my Amazon wishlist is still available and open, and anyone wishing to can make a gift to the sick, bored guy here. the imprisonment will hopefully allow me time to mess some more with Linux, perhaps even to the point of building myself a server and organising the house network. Light a candle for me.

Also, a call to everyone to do their best to contribute during Iron Noder Quest month; you may not make the one-a day target, but there's no shame in signing up with mauler and doing your level best. There's no shame in not succeeding, and much lavishing of praise if you do. Speaking of Iron Noder, I renew my promise to read and vote on everything submitted for the Quest in addition to knocking a few things off my long, long list of drafts. I have 33 drafts lined up and outlined, so I will be off to a running start come 1st November. If I enjoy Iron Noder half as much as I enjoyed the Hallowe'en Quest, I will be very happy indeed. There've been so many good entries for that quest, I enjoyed contributing, and of course, thanks to the wonderful Jet-Poop for running it yet again.

Finally, many thanks to the anonymous soul who sent me the book on Jewish prayer, it's making for some very thought-provoking reading!
