Seminal
comic artist who emerged from the
UK in the late
1970's.
Bolland was born in
Boston,
England, in 1951.
He worked on
underground magazines before breaking through as a regular
artist in
Britain's 2000AD, principally illustrating
Judge Dredd. (My personal high point: the (Judge Death saga).
From this sprang work for
DC Comics- notably the
graphic novel The Killing Joke, scripted by fellow
Englishman and ex-
2000 AD colleague
Alan Moore.
Lauded by fans for his
beautiful inking; bemoaned by collaborators for his painstaking, time-consuming ways, he does mostly covers these days; they're
beautiful covers, though...
