Hebrew for block of peace. Peace movment started by Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs, its one of the most active and publicly known. Gush Shalom was set up in responce to Gush Emunim (Settlers Block).

Some of its aims:

  • Ending Israeli occupation in the occupied territories, establishing a Palestinian state in the territories occupied by Israel in 1967.

  • Making the border between Israel and Palestine open for the free movement of goods and people.

  • Sharing Jerusalem between the two states, East Jerusalem for Palestine and West Jerusalem for Israel. The city is to be united on the municipal level based on mutual agreements.

  • Recognizing the right of return for palestinian refugees.

  • Safeguarding the security of both Israel and Palestine by mutual agreement and guarantees.

  • Striving for overall peace between Israel and all Arab countries and the creation of a regional union.
