Μακελλω
The heroine of an obscure, and probably Rhodian legend. She and her sister Dexithea invited Apollo, Zeus and Poseidon to eat with them. When Poseidon or Zeus destroyed either the Phlegians or the Telchines for having poisoned wheat seed with water from the Styx, he spared the two women and did not strike them with his trident. Macello and Dexithea were daughters of a man called Damon. Dexithea married Minos and bore him a son Euxanthius. At the place where Macello and her sister recieved the gods Euxanthius built the town of Coresus, 'the city of young girls'.
