. Also esteemed in SW England
. The range of Conger conger
(the chief species sought as food) extends from the North Atlantic
to South Africa
, but other species of conger replace it elsewhere. In Indo-Pacific waters the principal conger is Muranenosox cinereus
, which sometimes enters fresh waters.
