This is (at time of writing) the
standard issue
rifle of all mainstream
British forces, (RAF, Army, Navy etc.). It also goes by the name "L-85" and is basically
crap.
It is
apparently soon to be replaced by the
M-16 as it has been
fraught by problems, like the fact that it jams if a tiny amount of
water gets in. Very annoying when you're in
battle.
It has semi and fully
automatic modes, and is powered by a gas cylinder stored above the barrel. It is ergonomically designed and the pistol grip fits snugly into the right hand. The sights can be adjusted quickly for 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards. It also comes with a battle-sight for use when the main sight is flipped down.
Oh, and it fires
NATO standard 5.56mm rounds.
