By default in Microsoft Windows, PrintScreen copies the entire screen to the clipboard, from which it can then be pasted into an application. Alt + PrintScreen copies just the current window.
Also, some KVM switches use PrintScreen to bring up the On Screen Display for selecting which machine to control. In this case, you usually press it again to send a PrintScreen to the machine.
The PrintScreen key is often labelled PrtSc.
