When science questions itself (a rant)(there's some more in my scratch pad, but the rant itself is good enough to get its own writeup)
Apparently this one was problematic. When I finally got some feedback I learned that sticking to the topic is more important than commenting on "previous posts" (because nodes are not threads). They thought the content was OK but it didn't match the subject. I have now moved it to stating the obvious, just to see what happens...
What happened was a nice message from some helpful person telling me how I should have done it. After that the poor thing has done no better than before.
Things I might write about some day:
- presents: how to buy, wrapping, present ideas. (started a scratch pad for this, remind me to "post" it in December...)
- ascii art (I'm still thinking about how to squeeze as much of it as possible into the writeups, as well as how not to get them nuked by prejudiced editor types...)
- I might jump into some
rants/flames/discussions... 8-) - I have a whole little personal cookbok with recipes that I've "absorbed" from various sources over the years...
- Things I have learned when working with old people. I'm not allowed to tell you the most hilarious stuff but general, practical things such as "how to change diapers on a 100kg 'baby' with arthritis" should be OK. (Hmmm.. maybe I should make that "300 pound baby" and link to that "300 pound kitten" node...)
- Killer Whale Safari (a story about stupid people)
- Boredom
- If I had thought about it ten yeras ago I might have written about "an intelligent AOL user" (yes, I know one).
- The book "The Long Ships" ("Röde Orm" in Swedish) by Frans G. Bengtsson. It's about vikings, and it's just a very good book (and one I have given as a present to several Americans).
- SIRDS (they can be done with ascii art...)
- Witch hunt logic (The answer to the question "Are you a witch?", if yes, then you are one, if no then you are one... either way: accusation == you are guilty == you get killed. This logic is also used on addicts.)
