Annie Leibovitz is arguably one of the world's most celebrated and innovative photographers.

Born in Westport, Connecticut in 1949. Educated at the San Francisco Art Institute where, in 1971, she attained a Bachelor's degree in fine arts, Leibovitz rose to fame with her portrait of John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono, picturing Lennon (naked) hugging a fully-clothed Yoko, which was taken literally just hours before Lennon's assassination in September 1980.

Freelancing throughout the 70's her most noted position was that of Chief Photographer for Rolling Stone magazine. She also applied her expertise to the field of advertising, creating ad campaigns for American Express and the Gap clothing company. Advertising Age Magazine awarded her the Campaign of the Decade Award for her efforts in 1987.

Annie has gone on to be contributing photographer for Time Newsweek, Esquire and Vanity Fair, publishing books of her collected works and displaying exhibitions in museums worldwide.
