Themestream seems to be trying to become a portal site where people post articles on things of interest to them, not too far unlike Everything, save that it is aimed toward longer articles and does not try to be encyclopedic in scope. However, Themestream actually pays its authors for page hits...ten cents per hit at present.
Perhaps those who enjoy writing would also enjoy being paid for it?
Addendum, several months later: And the joke is on me, of course; Themestream burned through its venture capital like a roman candle, and fizzled without paying me the last few hundred bucks that it owed me. Still, I made
some money out of the thing that I wouldn't have otherwise gotten, so it's not all bad, eh?
