Al Roker is the
weatherman for
NBC's
Today Show. In that
role he also serves as light
comic relief, but outside it, he cuts loose and goes right
over the top.
He's never been a comedian to my knowledge, but he's a regular guest on Conan O'Brien's "Late Show", where he drives the dialogue at least as much as O'Brien himself, and frequently indulges in raunchy jokes. But as Conan himself often says, hey, it's 1 AM, who's watching? It's fun to see him let himself go with that kind of freedom.
It's almost too bad Roker is doing so well as a weatherman, because he'd be a smash hit at just about any comedy club in the country and could surely do well with a show of his own.
