The Association of University Teachers or AUT is a British trades union and professional association representing academic and related staff in the universities, higher education colleges, and research institutions of the United Kingdom. Its membership of some 43,000 is largely concentrated in the traditional university sector as opposed to the newer universities(that is the former polytechnics and such like).
