Born Harold Lloyd Jenkins in 1933 in Friars Point
MS, his father was a
riverboat pilot. Conway first recorded for
Sun Records which didn't release anything he did.
But Conway soon scored a hit or two on the pop charts ("Danny Boy" #10, "It's Only Make Believe" #1, "Lonely Blue Boy" #6) in the late 1950s. He soon moved on to sing Country, where the name Twitty is enshrined for all time.
