National Action Party - Historically conservative political party in Mexico. Gained international prominence upon wresting governorships from the Partido Revolucionario Institucional in a handful of Mexican states in the early 90s. Its presidential candidate for the 2000 election was former Guanajuato state governor, Vicente Fox, who won the election, ending 71 years of one-party rule by the PRI. Other governorships won by the PAN in its history: Baja California Norte and Chihuahua.
