Here's a nice alternative to a pizza with red sauce on the bottom: carmelize a couple of onions. (cut the onion in half, slice thinly, saute the onion in olive oil over low heat until it turns light brown - it will take a while) At some point before the onions are done, you can add some garlic. Spread the cooked onions on the pizza dough instead of red sauce. Add toppings - basil leaves, mushrooms, cheese, whatever. I recommend that if cheese is added, do so sparsely and consider using only a parmesean or romano type of cheese. Bake this until it's done.
