A type of
mohawk-esque
hairstyle, generally worn by
punks. Instead of the mohawks' single, straight down the centre strip of
hair, twin fins (as the name would suggest) are two strips that are the same as each other, usually equidistant from the middle of the head. The fins are usually thinner than a mohawk, but are pretty much as long (of course, this all depends on the wearers' preferences), and
dyed/coloured the same way. Position of the
fins on the
head varies, ranging from very close to the centre (as in so close the two fins could be joined together to make a mohawk) to midway between the ears and the very top of the head. A gap of about two to three inches between the fins is common.
Here in the
Melbourne punk scene, twin fins are more common on girls, but there are guys that sport them too.
