A network (mathematicians say, a
graph) of
concepts connected by
relations. Popular in the study of
meaning, in psychology, and in
AI.
Many different sorts of semantic networks have been invented: relations can themselves be concepts; relations and concepts can be classified into types; etcetera. Some people think it's useful to visualise thoughts this way (mind maps).
