Safety goggles are designed to protect a person's eyes when they're doing something that involves danger to a human's ocular meatware. Since these are goggles and not glasses, they're worn with a strap that goes around your head.

The lenses are typically shatterproof and the space around the lenses normally have a cover that touches your face around the eyes like a scuba mask to help prevent flying debris from entering your baby blues. They don't normally have frames like regular glasses and the lenses are made with Lexan or other polycarbonate plastics.

If you're into steampunk, you should have a set of goggles just in case you have to go work on your airship.
