The time at which an ovarian follicle ripens and bursts free from the ovary, passing down the fallopian tube and the uterus. Usually occurs 14 days after the bleeding phase of menstrual cycle If fertilized the ova will attach to the uterine wall.

The formation of ova or eggs in the ovary, and the discharge of the same. In the mammalian female the discharge occurs during menstruation.
