Negative coaching is coaching someone by telling them what not to do, instead of by telling them what to do. This technique is very popular with high school football coaches, and coaches who are not sure what to tell their athletes to correct. Many athletes hate this type of coaching, as it is not constructive criticism, and may not help them solve their problem. Some athletes however, appreciate negative coaching, as some feel like it allows them to be more aggressive in their play and to find the solution for themselves.
