The characteristic mournful style of music from Cape Verde. Akin to, or mixed from, blues, jazz, Latin, African, and the Portuguese national style of fado.

Morna has been famous in world music for the last ten years principally because of the singer Cesaria Evora, described as Cape Verde's answer to Edith Piaf or Billie Holliday.
