Meiotic recombination refers to the recombination which occurs between homologous chromosomes during meiosis. There are three basic models for it, the Holiday model, the Meselson-Radding model and the Double strand break model. Each model explained more observed results than the previous one, and it is thought that the double strand break model is a reasonable model of what actually happens.
