Irregular operations is an airline term for flight delays, cancellations, and diversions, whether caused by mechanical problems, bad weather, pilot fatigue, airport runway closings due to airplane accidents, congestion, and other miscellaneous factors that airlines must deal with.

Irregular operations are generally stressful for both the airline staff and the passengers flying on the airline. The staff find that they need to reschedule many passengers, and the passengers find that they need to rearrange hotel plans, business meetings, and other transportation factors.
