May in the
midwest
After the first time the
lawn has been mowed this year
The
grass is green, but if I look away, I'm sure it's
chartreuse (because it hurts my
eyes)
In another neighborhood, there is a lawn that looks so
fresh - and plain
The blades of grass
taper and start to curl at the ends,
this lawn is lighter
Lush, soft, warm spring day
My
jacket is left on the sidewalk
And I don't care who sees me, or if I get in
trouble
I have to roll around on the fresh grass, I have to feel it on my cheeks, and smell its
dirty green sweetness.
