Fludrocortisone acetate is a corticosteroid, naturally produced by the body. It is used to treat conditions where the body does not produce enough of its own, such as Addison’s disease and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. It can also treat postural hypotension. It helps to conserve salt. If taken while pregnant, it may cause birth defects. If taken by children, it can slow or stop growth. It might make you thirsty, have to pee more, or lose hair. Sometimes it can swell your hands and feet, due to water retention, and cause weak muscles. It also tastes like crap.
