Here in .ph
it refers to sorbetes
or the sorbetero
sold ice cream
. Sorbetero means ice cream man
. They go around the streets pushing a small cart that is very much like a wheelbarrow
except that it uses small karitela
(horse drawn carriage) wheels. Inside is insulation, ice, and the yummy dirty ice cream.
It really is not very dirty although I imagine it was called such because compared to the commercial big name ice creams dirty ice cream is just made at home and is quite a cottage industry product.
All flavours of the rainbow are available but the most common is cheese, strawberry, and chocolate. Pinoy cosmopolitan if you will.
It is not Ben and Jerry's but sure can provide refreshment far better than any Magnolia Nestle crap.
