Like background noise and background music, background vision is having some sort of TV on, but not actually paying attention. The way my room is set up I have my monitor straight in front of me, and the TV to the left turned 90 degrees. This allows me to put on the TV and watch it out the corner of my eye. Anime makes good background vision, as do some shows that are pure eye candy like VIP.
