ZipSlack is a special version of the
Slackware Linux distro. It can be installed onto any
FAT filesystem (in other words
DOS/
Windows) with about 100MB of free space. This makes it ideal for installing onto a
Zip-disk, hence the name.
This is a really
cool thing if you stop to think about it. This means you can boot to
Linux on every machine that has a
Zip-drive and is able to boot from it. Take it with you to school/work, and voilá, the boring standard
Windows-box in school has been transformed into a powerful
Linux-
workstation without altering anything on the
machine. Of course I dont think many school-administrators would appreciate this very much.
