A species of gecko from the island of Madagascar. Uroplatus geckos have large eyes to facilitate sight in low light. They are aboreal, with modified toepads to give them ease in climbing. Some members of this species, such as phantasticus, henkeli and fimbriatus have broad, flattened tails, leaflike in appearance, to aid in camoflauge. Uroplatus are carnivores eating a diet mainly of insects.
