Tyee is Chinook jargon for "Chief." It is also the name of a Washington State Ferry
vessel, MV Tyee. The Tyee has a length of 94', beam of 31', a draft of 7', and weighs
98 tons. It can carry 270 passengers at up to 25 knots, and was built in Freeland, Washington in
1985.
