One of the first British children's TV programmes, first broadcast in 1955 as part of the BBC's Watch with Mother series. It featured a wooden puppet family: Daddy Woodentop, who bustled around doing 'men's work'; Mummy Woodentop, who spent all day in the kitchen with Baby Woodentop and her faithful Mrs Scrubbit, the cleaner; Jenny and Willie Woodentop, the twins; and 'the biggest spotty dog you ever did see', er, Spotty the Dog, who had the most hilarious walk.
