Last week, I asked my husband what he wanted for his birthday on April 5th.
He said, "I don't want to be 75."
"Is that all?", I asked.
"No", he pouted like a four-year-old, "I want my sister to come stay with us for a few days before and after."
I said, "That's easier than changing your age. Give her a phone call."
He left the room, turned and said, "I also want to go to the Chinese restaurant. And I want your mother to come."
"Okay", I answered, adding, "I suppose you want your favorite cake?"
Angrily, he shouted, "I CAN'T REMEMBER..." as I interrupted him, saying, "I already bought the ingredients for chocolate cake with lemon icing."
Ever so briefly, the dark cloud faded. We are in the next phase and it's exhausting.
I called the restaurant and asked for a table for ten. "No problem, miss, no problem."
Took a nap and dreamt of nothing, no problems.
