The traditional Sunday lunch in England (or dinner, if you eat it later)
usually consists of the following:
Roast beef
Roast potatoes
Yorkshire
pudding
Carrots
Peas
Gravy
And if you buy something advertised as Sunday lunch in any English pub,
that's more or less what you'll get. The roast potatoes are usually a constant,
the other items are fairly flexible: it's basically roast meat or a vegetarian
substitute with potatoes, two veg and gravy. Yorkshire pudding is usually only
served with beef, for some reason. Bread sauce is sometimes on offer instead
of gravy. Horseradish sauce is sometimes available to have on roast beef, or
English mustard. Roast pork sometimes comes with apple sauce. Beware the vile
and evil brussels sprouts which may occur on your plate in some places: they
are not good things.
