Special Creationism, or belief in Special Creation, is a particular doctrine of Creationism. It is the most widely held among evangelical Christian Fundamentalists. It is not only the belief that the world was created by God, but that the Genesis account is to be taken very literally true--that is, earth was created in seven literal 24-hour days, that God said "Let there be X" and pouf! there was X. Special Creationism denies any "naturalistic" explanation for the origin of earth or any facilitated Creation. Special Creationism is characterized by an antagonism toward the theory of evolution and the old earth theory--few Special Creationists dare propose that the earth is older that 20,000 years old, if half that.
