Sam Robards, actor, is the grandson of actor Jason Robards Sr. - who died in 1963 (after all the research I did it was unclear as to whether Sam Robards was the son of recently-deceased actor Jason Robards - no sr.).

Sam was born Sam Prideaux Robards on December 16, 1961 in New York, New York. His first major acting role was playing the character Freddy in Paul Mazursky's "Tempest" in 1982 which also featured Gena Rowland and Susan Sarandon. Sam never did become a star, largely relegated to character-acting roles. Needless to say, he's not hounded for autographs as he strolls down the boulevard. Probably his biggest part in recent years was playing Henry Swinton, the "father" in the Steven Spielberg/Stanley Kubrick collaboration "A.I." (2001). His most recent role is in the movie "Surviving Eden."

The gig I mostly know him from is when he starred opposite Chris Elliott in the TV sitcom Get A Life!. There he played Chris' best friend and neighbor Larry Potter, the only character on the show who could tolerate the main character, Chris Peterson.
