Lived: ???-387
Feast Day: July 18th
Pope Blessed Under:???
Philastrius has been looked on by history in a perplexing light: known for modesty and gentlness, he was also anti-Semitic(the norm rather than the exception at this period) and infamously anti-Arian. He fiercely persecuted and often converted people throughout his career as a travelling missionary and confessor until appointment as bishop in Brescia, Italy. He published a famous tract against Arianism and a catalog of "heresies"He remained here and toned down his attacks until his death in 387. Then his attacks ceased all-together. ; )
He is also famous for having recieved the stigmata for his zeal for the Church.
