Session Description Protocol
IEFT SDP is the format specified for data carried within a
SAP packet. It informas a multicast client of such information as the desciptive
name of the data (eg: 'Madonna Concert Live Webcast') as well as the type of data and the rate at which it is being transmitted ('RAW
MPEG1 2.5Mps Stream'). The data is stored using plain
ASCII, making the packet east to parse. It includes the option to add additional custom information, which is automatically discarded by any client that does not support it.
