Genus Pyrrhura conures are most closely related to conures of Genus Aratinga. These small, playful birds are considered to be the "quiet" conures; "quiet" being only in relation to other parrots, however. They are distant cousins of the macaws. The two most commonly-kept Pyrrhura conure species in the US are the green-cheeked conure and the maroon-bellied conure.
