In Pennsylvania's great city of Pittsburgh, there's a beacon atop the Grant Building. Every night, it flashes the city's name in Morse code. An automatic system. Nothing can possibly go wrong, right? Automatic systems have fewer errors than humans do.
Escept for one night in July 2009.
Because that was when the signal, still running on 1930s technology, finally crapped out.
Instead of "Pittsburgh", the signal flashed:
